[edit] History
Evans Blue was formed in early 2005 when the five musicians, then in three different bands, connected through a local musician’s message board. The same message board then brought the band to the attention of producer Trevor Kustiak and his partner Mari Dew of The Pocket Studios in Toronto, and they began working together in March 2005. The band wrote and recorded their debut album, The Melody And The Energetic Nature Of Volume, which was completed in early November 2005 and released in February 2006 through Hollywood Records. The first single, "Cold (But I'm Still Here)", received a great deal of radio airplay. The debut record spent several weeks in the top 10 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart and spawned a second single, "Over".
The band started their first big U.S. tour with Taproot in late March 2006. They have since played with big names and other up and coming fellow rock bands such as Staind, Alice in Chains, Three Days Grace, Flyleaf, and labelmates Breaking Benjamin. Early on during their tour their first drummer, Darryl, left in the middle of the night and went home without a word. To cover for his absence, the rest of the band worked out acoustic sets to play while they found a replacement. Danny D was then brought in from Boston and took Darryl's place. Evans Blue went on, continuing to tour the U.S from east to west and occasionally popping in on their home ground for performances such as at 102.1's Edge Fest along side other Canadian bands such as Mobile, Hot Hot Heat, and Our Lady Peace.
After a seven month stint touring the country, Evans Blue returned home where they began working on their sophomore album. Danny D left the band and was replaced by Howard. In March 2007 the band was nominated for a Juno in the Best New Band category. The band's second album, entitled The Pursuit Begins When This Portrayal Of Life Ends, will be released on June 12, 2007. The first single will be released sometime in April.
