Exhale (group)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Exhale was a unique R&B female music trio comprising of Tasha Belton, Tiko George, and Toya Watson. They were signed to Real Deal Records, a company founded by boxing legend Evander Holyfield. Their manager was Melinda Zanecki from eMphasis, inc., and their representative was John F. Mercer [1].
They describe their music as so: "We have the attitude of TLC combined with a more traditional R&B flavor, like En Vogue, but we're still funky fresh."
[edit] Debut
They had one album, self-titled "Exhale", released in 2002, which produced two singles.
The first being "Chillin' In Your Benz", "Benz" referring to the car brand Mercedes-Benz. It had one music video made for it, where one group member is dating a man, who is cheating on her, and her friends are telling her to break up with him. The choreography in this video was done by Kirk L. Jennings [2].
Still Not Over You was their second single, which also had a music video, directed by Smith n' Borin, and released in the week of June 10, 2002 [3].
Two of their songs were nominated for the Eighth Annual Soul Train Lady Of Soul Awards. Chillin' In Your Benz for "BEST R&B/SOUL SINGLE, GROUP, BAND, OR DUO", and Still Not Over You for "BEST R&B/SOUL OR RAP NEW ARTIST, GROUP, BAND OR DUO". [4]
[edit] Disband
The group broke up during the early production stages of the second album, only recording one single song.
