Extreme Computer Music

Extreme Computer Music is an extension of traditional Computer music. It incorporates the same abrasive and extreme frequency exploration as Noise music yet retains the passion and technique of Computer Musicians to create virtual instruments and other methods to compose and generate new sounds. Early exponents of this art form were Russell Haswell, Peter Rehberg, Florian Hecker, Zbigniew Karkowski, cd slopper and farmersmanual in the mid to late 90s, by the turn of the millennium Noise music heavy-weights like Merzbow had moved to laptop as choice of processing device. In a related genre, musicians use the computer as a physical instrument by connecting conact microphones in the hard drive to add new elements to noise music.
