I didn't add the NPOV notice, but I'll make a go at justifying it:

• Having the word Heroes in the title is inapropriate.
• The format of the article isn't really apropriate for Wikipedia. The first sentence sets it up as an argument for teaching about these particular activists. That makes it original research.
• The topic isn't very intuitive. Meaning, I doubt anybody would do a search that would come up with this article title. This is a collection of articles, rather than an article upon itself.

In my opinion, the thing to do with this would be to create individual articles for each of these people. If you want something to tie them together, try a list or a category. The content here is good. The major problem is the format. --djrobgordon 05:58, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

I just stumbled across this page. It seems to me that this material is (or should be) already covered under Timeline of the American Civil Rights Movement. Perhaps after making sure that each entry on this page appears in that list, the article could be made to redirect to that page? If any of these entries don't already have their own page, those could be created. wrp103 (Bill Pringle) 15:50, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

The timeline article is already long as this is far more details - really, its okay, except that the article needs renaming, retooling and some styling. - Maybe better would be to break it up into seperate articles for each instance? WilyD 13:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

• I've tried to clean this article up some by adding section headings.
• Seems like it should be merged with the appropriate article, American Civil Rights Movement (1896-1954).
• The current title is not good.
• Says "references soon" but still no references.
• There are still NPOV issues, don't have the time to go through the article closely - noticed words like "courageous" which are not appropriate.

Let's get this article polished off, merged/split if necessary, and removed from the NPOV cat. Fourdee 02:56, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Is unneccesary, I think. Surely the information about these people should be found on their respective pages? For example, this article states:

"The 381-day long Montgomery Bus Boycott of the city bus system that followed Rosa Parks' conviction precipitated the revival of the American civil rights movement, which had been dormant since 1883, when the US Supreme Court struck down the Civil Rights Act of 1875. But before the Supreme Court's decision in 1883, there had been instances of courageous and deliberate action by individual African-Americans to further the cause of equal access to public transport. In each instance discussed below, the victims of disparate treatment in public transport turned to the courts to seek vindication and change. The results were mixed. Also, what was missing from the equation in most cases was a concerted effort by the larger African-American community to back the individual's effort with community-based efforts, as occurred in the case of Rosa Parks in 1955.

After Congress passed the Civil Rights Act of 1875, it did not pass another civil rights law until 1957."

but if you simply click on the link to the Montgomery Bus Boycott (where you would normally go to find information on this subject, you get a Much longer, much more detailed and much less NPOV article. Thedreamdied 12:37, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

I've created a List of 19th-century African-American civil rights activists page that points at pages for each of the people listed here. (It looks like someone got started on this, I just finished it up a bit.) They could still use some polishing up, references and consistency work, if anyone else would like to jump in.
