Yo, this is a high school's IP address so a bunch of different people use it, blocking it won't punish any specific people. Sorry, but IP bans are not a good solution here. - one of the students who actaully doesn't vandalize wikis.
same student here, I think I've done the correct correctification.

[edit] Desiderius Erasmus
Welcome, and thank you for experimenting with the page Desiderius Erasmus on Wikipedia! Your test worked, and thank you for reverting or removing it yourself. The best way to do tests in the future would be to use the sandbox. You can look at these pages as well: how to edit a page, the tutorial, and how to write a great article. All of these pages are good places to start. Again, welcome, and I hope that you will like Wikipedia. --Flex (talk|contribs) 20:12, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

- whoa! who said anything about 'banning'? the revert that i made (this one [1] for reference) was simply to roll back to the junior high designation, not to block anyone from editing anything. i did this because the change, on first blush, looked suspicious... a change from a junior high to an organization with 'supercomputing' in it. people using junior high ip ranges have a history of modifying their ip talk pages (for what reason, i don't know... but, hey, i don't understand the drive to vandalize either and a lot of people do that too) so, yeah, i rolled it back. i also noticed that someone else has rolled back your rollback as well. if you want it to stick i might suggest that you register and get yourself a user name. rc patrollers are more likely to let questionable edits go if it's from a user name... that way an individual can be called to account for a change. the same way you're calling me to account, right? -- frymaster 06:14, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits are considered vandalism and immediately reverted. If you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the work of others. Thank you. Philip Gronowski Contribs 18:58, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Is it logical or reasonable to block thousands of users simply because of a handful of people?
- 1) There was no need to quote the whole list above, the external link was sufficient.
- 2) I doubt that all those institutions are mapped to 204.29.111.62 and ARIN's whois does not support your assertion.
- 3) You should have signed your contribution, T-1.
- I strongly favour a permanent block on this IP address. Michael Bednarek 09:46, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
1) ok. 2) a) I know for a fact that at least Auburn City Schools (I added the "Auburn Junior High School" message up top myself a few years ago due to lack of knowledge) is mapped to it, and that is still a few thousand users. The whois DOES support my assertion. "Alabama Supercomputer Network". google it. it'll lead you to the link I provided. You can look at their various information to see that THIS IS the case. Auburn Junior High School is part of Auburn City Schools, Central East Highschool is part of Phenix City Schools, also mapped to this IP address through ASC (Alabama Supercomputing Center). Even if it's not ALL of those institutions, it's still several thousand users at least. You're welcome to come down here to Auburn to see for yourself if you really want. 3) ahh, I apologize, accident.
This user should be unblocked, as soon as possible.
