.300 Winchester Magnum (known as .300 Win Mag) is a very popular magnum rifle cartridge that was introduced by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1963 as a member of the family of Winchester Magnum cartridges. It is known to be an accurate, long-range round with a rather flat trajectory.

The .300 Win Mag is an excellent cartridge for large game hunting and long range shooting. It sees use in long range benchrest competition and has been adopted by Law Enforcement Marksmen and by some branches of the US Military for use by their snipers. Maximum effective range is generally accepted to be 1200 yards with ammunition incorporating low drag projectiles, while accuracy well below 1 minute-of-angle out to 1000 yards is not unusual in precision built rifles firing match grade ammunition.

- The actual diameter of the bullet is 0.308-inches.[1]
- The maximum case length is 2.620-inches (slightly longer than a 30-06).[1]
- A common rifling twist is 1:10.[1]
- Like the other members of Winchester Magnum family, the cartridge is based on shortened version of the H&H casing.[1]
- Minimal body taper, shoulder angle of 25-degrees, and a case neck shorter than 0.308-inches maximize powder capacity.
