It is a prime number, the fifth lucky prime, the first irregular prime, the third unique prime and the third cuban prime of the form
It is a factor of all 3-digit base 10 repdigits, such as 111. 37 is the smallest prime that is not also a supersingular prime. It is a centered hexagonal number and a star number.
Every positive integer is the sum of at most 37 fifth powers (see Waring's problem).
37 appears in the Padovan sequence, preceded by the terms 16, 21, 28 (it is the sum of the first two of these).

- The Saros number of the solar eclipse series which began on -1794 June 25 and ended on -496 August 12. The duration of Saros series 37 was 1298.1 years, and it contained 73 solar eclipses.
- The Saros number of the lunar eclipse series which began on -1492 April 3 and ended on -194 May 22. The duration of Saros series 37 was 1298.1 years, and it contained 73 lunar eclipses.

- 666 = 18 x 37. Thus 37 is the largest prime factor of the Number of the Beast; and the factor 18 is significant in that it represents the age at which many vices become legal.
- 37 squared is 1369, a number which combines the unlucky connotations of 13 with the sexual connotations of 69. 13 and 69 are themselves connected in that 13 squared is 169.
- 1 x 37 = 37 and 3 + 7 = 10; 1 + 0 = 1
- 2 x 37 = 74 and 7 + 4 = 11; 1 + 1 = 2

In the movie Clerks., Dante's girlfriend Veronica fellated 37 men in her lifetime, including Dante. This number is a reoccurring theme in Kevin Smith's View Askewniverse.
On Seinfeld, Jerry and Elaine had sex 37 times (by Elaine's count) prior to the first episode.
In Office Space, Brian, a waiter at Chotchkie's, is said to wear 37 "pieces of flair".
In the movie "Medicine Man" the chemical that Sean Connery's character discovers is found at peak number 37 on the instrument (apparently a GC-MS).
In the "Mad Movies" version of "The Divorce of Lady X", the old bellboy tells Laurence Olivier's character that he has found 37 women who want to have an affair with him
37 was the number of Giant's baseball pitcher Miguel del Toro, who tragically died in a farm accident. This is also the name of a card game, and the number of choice for many fans of the pitcher.
Although 47 occurs more frequently in Star Trek as a whole, the number 37 appears quite often on Star Trek: Voyager. To give just a couple of examples:
- In the episode Juggernaut, Tuvok counts 37 escape pods from the Malon freighter.
- In Imperfection, Tuvok reports he has "isolated a section containing the bodies of approximately 37 drones."
- In Alice, Paris and Kim had planned to go to the holodeck to play Captain Proton, Chapter 37, "The Web of Pain."
- The first episode of the second season is entitled "The 37s"
On The Price is Right, Bob Barker jokes that once the range finder is stopped on Range Game, it can't be started again for 37 hours.
In Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Dennis, the man who King Arthur mistakenly refers to as "Old Woman," is 37 years old.

Number 37 is Paul Newman's prisoner number in the 1967 film Cool Hand Luke.

37 people have been in the band Spinal Tap at one point or another. Many of them being "tragically" killed.
The Velvet Underground song "Femme Fatale" contains the line "You're written in her book/you're number 37 have a look".
In the film "The Mothman Prophecies", Connie Parker has a prophetic dream in which she hears a voice whisper to her "Wake up number 37".

- The number of the French department Indre-et-Loire
- The number of slots in European Roulette
- I-37 is the designation for a US interstate highway in Texas, running from San Antonio to Corpus Christi.
- The number of baseball player and (more famously) manager Casey Stengel, which is retired by both the Yankees and the Mets
- A recurring trademark in the films of Kevin Smith
- With the number 27, a key number in comedian Charles Fleischer's concept of moleeds
- In the U.S., UHF Channel 37 (608 to 614 mHz) is the only allocated TV channel that has never been assigned to a station. (The frequency range is kept quiet so as to not interfere with radio astronomy devices there.)

- United States President Richard Nixon announced his resignation during his thirty-seventh television address from the Oval Office. He was the 37th U.S. President.

- The television show with David Blane doing street magic. He preforms an old mind reading trick. It works as follows. "Choose a number between one and fifty. Think of the number. (give time for person to think) Is it 37?" 37 is the number people choose most often.
