This is a photo from the observation deck of the Fourth Street Elevator that shows the River Front area. Visible in this photo are the Julien Inn (once believed to be owned by Al Capone), the Grand Harbor Hotel, the Grand River Events Center, the National River Museum, the Bricktown, and the Ice Harbor. Sitting in the Ice Harbor is the Dubuque Diamond Jo Casino riverboat. Also visible is the parking lot where the downtown gas station seen in Field of Dreams was located. This photo was taken by me in May of 2004.
One note of historic interest is that when President George W. Bush visited the city in May 2004, he spoke at the Grand River Event Center.
