[edit] No personal attacks
Please don't make personal attacks towards other contributors — this includes giving them a "retard barnstar". You are welcome to make positive contributions on Wikipedia, but continuing in negative activity will lead you to be blocked by an administrator. —this is messedrocker

- You're right. My bad. Just frustrated over his constant revisions. But I should know better. It won't happen again. 72.139.185.19 06:10, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] 65.95.151.166
Hey, I'm just compiling evidence for a 3RR/vandalism report (also WP:BLP and WP:NPA violations). Thanks for your message. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 06:49, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- 65.95.151.166 has been blocked for 24 hours for abusive edit summaries and 3RR violations. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 06:54, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

- Yay! And there was much rejoicing by all. 72.139.185.19 07:01, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

- Actually, "The Hammer" is the nickname of an American lawyer who was suspended for malpractice and for trying to solicit work from a woman in a coma! A few of us have been working on the article together, hence the hammer reference on my talk page. :)
- By the way, on Wikipedia, negative material which is unsourced or relies on sources which are not considered reliable should be removed straight away per policy. This has an exemption from the 3RR.
- Do you work on Wikinews very much? Sarah Ewart (Talk) 07:19, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

-
- Not as much as I'd like. Mostly, I stick to WP. But "The Hammer" is truly awesome. I particularly love that he'd never even tried a case in NY. Anyway, I added a video link to the discussion page of your new draft, in case you'd like to link to the outgoing pages in the final version. His bio just isn't the same unless you've heard him firsthand! 72.139.185.19 14:07, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ridiculing disabled children
how could you? what kind of person would do such a thing, even one time. Did you design the template yourself? Ottawaman 13:59, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- It was my intent to suggest that your edits (and repeated reversions) were significantly sub-par. I did this by awarding you a "Retard's Barnstar", which probably wasn't the most constructive way to do this. I appologize. But please try to refrain from engaging in repeated reversions (or hasty edits) and it'll be that much easier for us to all just get along. I should mention that posting numerous links to the above edit (as you did here, here, here, here, here, here, and here) doesn't say much about your motives or desire to see this removed. -- 72.139.185.19 15:10, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
(The following was moved from the Ignatieff talk page)
[edit] Why are talk page edits being deleted?
One edit referring to offensive vandalism was deleted by the vandal himself and then my comment on that deletion was deleted. Ottawaman 12:43, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- Since the vandal made many edits in this article I certainly think it's relevant to this talk page and I especially would like to know if a block request has been made. Ottawaman 12:46, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- I removed the comments because they do not belong here. I am not a vandal. Please stop making baseless and spurious accusations. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 13:04, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- Also, please stop inserting Wikinews as a source. It is entirely inappropriate. Please read guidelines on reliable sources and policy on living people. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 13:05, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
-
-
-
-
- You said the comment was removed by the vandal; I was the one who removed it, therefore I considered you were calling me a vandal. The person who keeps inserting the wikinews link (65.95.151.166) has been blocked for repeated policy violations. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 13:18, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

- You cannot cite Wikinews as a source. That is my objection. The edits need to conform to WP:BLP and if they do not they can be shot on sight. Follow policy and you will have no problems with me. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 13:18, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

- Why do you think that belongs here? It belongs, where it currently is, on the user's talk page. This is a page for discussing the article Michael Ignatieff, not linking to personal attacks. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 13:38, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

- I think it belongs here because 72.139.185.19 has made many Michael Ignatieff article edits and continues to so it's important that people know as much about his behavior as they now do about 65.95.151.166 (who you reference above). Ottawaman 14:08, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

- There are already links on this page to it. It has nothing to do with the Ignaieff article and so does not belong on this page. In addition, the person has repeatedly apologised for making the comment; it's time to get over it and move on with this article. Besides the fact that guidelines state personal attacks can be removed. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 00:10, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

- That's so twisted. The edits you deleted,Sarah, were not personal attacks but a reference to a personal attack; there is a profund difference. By your logic there could never be a criminal trial about anything because referring to the crime would be the same thing as the crime. Wikipedia is not censorship.....and why has the template not been deleted,Sarah, if you care so much about personal attacks? 67.71.122.23 12:41, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for moving this. I agree wholeheartedly. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 06:17, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
I strongly suggest that users pay careful attention to Sarah Ewart's words, because I am backing her 100%. I am not going to explain it. She already has. If anybody is in further need of explanation, please see the edit warning box on Talk:Michael Ignatieff. Sarah Ewart, in my previous experience, as here, is an experienced editor with a very sound grasp of policy and the best interests of wikipedia to the fore. Violations of policy on Michael Ignatieff and its talk page will result in a block without another warning. Tyrenius 06:51, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] An account
Would you consider signing up for an account? I would like to get sprotection for the page to cut down on all Ottawaman's IPs, but it would lock you out as well. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 16:42, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] How to respond
Ottawaman has made no edits since I left my warnings from 04:59, 11 August 2006 (UTC). I'm wiping the slate clean and everyone can start to work together if they want. If they don't, they they'll be blocked. Simple as that. If you have any problem, let me know and report the diff (I presume you're familiar with that, but if not check the bottom of the big red box at the top of Ignatieff talk page). Tyrenius 12:01, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- A big problem here is that person seems to have a never-ending supply of IP numbers to cycle through. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 12:29, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Well, that person (whoever that person is) can cycle through as many IP numbers as they want, as the talk page is now semi-protected, and IPs can't edit it. IPs will have to confer with someone who can edit it, or register and wait a few days. Tyrenius 12:54, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Talk:Michael_Ignatieff/Comments
Thanks. Sorted now. Tyrenius 19:03, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Box
Just wondered if you could explain why you put this box on a user's talk page, why it's still there and when you are going to delete it. It is what is called a Personal attack, for which people get blocked. Thank you. Tyrenius 00:08, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- I did delete it. That's a history page. Can/should I remove it from there? -- 02:53, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- A question: you just played with code to make that, didn't you? It's not in the template space, is it? Sarah Ewart (Talk) 03:08, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Don't worry; it's sorted. I got slightly confused with so much stuff flying around. Did you make the design yourself or find it somewhere else? Tyrenius 03:09, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- No, it's impossible for you to delete it. Only an admin can do that. Tyrenius 03:19, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Is it in the template space or did you make it up yourself? Ottawaman 18:28, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- This question has been answered and resolved. Please let it go and move on with something else. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 01:36, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Victims! Victims! Victims!
Thanks for the Hammer commerical links. They were hilarious! Sarah Ewart (Talk) 04:31, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- The talk page is semi-protected, but the article itself is fully protected which means that no one can edit it at the moment. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 04:44, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The box
The barnstar has been deleted [3], so there's no point in people linking to it everywhere they can. Just letting you know. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 08:02, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Talk:Michael Ignatieff
I suggest you get to work on the talk page, so the quality and verifiability of the article is improved. Also, if there are negative, non-verified statements about Ignatieff, there is now the chance to challenge these in the same way.
Please note that a person's web site can be used as a verifiable source about themselves in the ways indicated. [4][5] See this as a positive opportunity to make watertight whatever is in the article. I hope this helps.
