[edit] John Days
I note that you put up the {{notability}} tag on the John Days article. I don't see any reason for that: the section of the notability guidelines dealing with sportspeople suggests that "Sportspeople ... who have played in a fully professional league ... or at the highest level in mainly amateur sports or other competitive activities that are themselves considered notable" are worthy of inclusion. Days played twice at this level, and so qualifies; there's no "minimum number of appearances". The two external links given are from two of the three most well-known and reputable cricket sites, and most certainly count as reliable sources. Loganberry (Talk) 12:30, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- I object strongly to the notion that articles such as this are part of a "dumpbin of crap". Wikipedia is not paper: the fact that lesser-known players are covered in more depth than elsewhere does not mean that the likes of Grace and Bradman are somehow belittled. If I'd written a load of rubbish then I'd agree with you. I didn't, and so I don't. Loganberry (Talk) 12:43, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- You said "The devaluation of history is done on Wikipedia by dilution as much as anything else." I don't agree with that at all - and incidentally, I got my facts from sources other than Wisden, which is why Wisden isn't listed as a reference. Look, if you feel that strongly about it then you can take the Days article to AfD; just expect any such nomination to be vigorously contested. I'll leave this conversation here unless you want to comment further. Loganberry (Talk) 14:01, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
