96th Street opened September 10, 1932, is a two level local station with northbound trains using the upper level and southbound trains using the lower level.
The current station has two exits, three steps up to Northbound platform, one stair down to the lower level at full time side and another at the Part time side to 97th Street. The part time side has two street stairs. The to the northwest corner is relocated with a longer passageway. This is due to the widening of 97th Street. This entrance still has the bullet for the former K service, discontinued on December 11, 1988. The south end of the station has a closed exit to 95th Street.
