TV.com summary |
A.T.O.M. (an acronym of Alpha Teens On Machines) is a French animated television series, which chronicles the adventures of five teenagers (the eponymous Alpha Teens), set in the fictional city of Landmark City. The Alpha Teens test prototype vehicles and weapons for Lee Industries, and use these prototypes to combat criminals, particularly the sadistic Alexander Paine. The second season shakes up the status quo, pitting the team against their founder, Mr. Lee, and a team of mutants created using the teenagers' DNA.
An Arabic dub of the show is currently airing on MBC 3.

[edit] Toyline
The A.T.O.M. toyline is an action figure spin off line of the Action Man franchise distributed by Hasbro. Distinctly different from other Action Man toyline variations, A.T.O.M's selling point is that the figures are the standard size of normal action figures, and not of a doll format, much like Action Man however, these figures are sold individually, usually with figure accessories, from the vehicles distributed to accompany them.
The toyline is inspired by the recent G.i. Joe Sigma 6 line released by Hasbro for the American market.
The franchise takes much of its inspiration from the 1980s' M.A.S.K toyline from Kenner (which Hasbro bought in 1991), (even down to the code name lettering), as each vehicle for the A.T.O.M members changes from one ordinary looking terrain vehicle to anything that ranges from a jet car with unfolding door wings, to a bike that soon propels its driver into the air as a helicopter. Many of the M.A.S.K similarities are obvious, for example, Axel's car, in defense mode if not form, resembles Matt Trakker's Thunderhawk, Brad Turner's Condor is also imitated.
