Adobe Streamline
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Adobe Streamline is the name of a discontinued line tracing program made by Adobe Systems. Some feel it is no longer needed, as more powerful tracing capabilities can be found in Adobe Illustrator 9, CS and CS2. However, a test of the native Illustrator 9 auto-trace function by Creative Pro in 2002 concluded: "The premier tracing utility is Streamline, which is infinitely controllable and very accurate." Since the new CS version of Illustrator will not run on Windows 98 systems, Streamline thus remains vital for those using Illustrator 9.
Illustrator CS2 delivered a new tracing tool, Live Trace, which provides fast tracing, fine control, as well as a "live link" to the bitmap being traced. It's been extremely well received by Macworld, among others. [1] [2].
