[edit] Edit war on Surrealism

Greetings and welcome, I am sorry you are caught in the middle of an edit war on Surrealism, please don't take it personally. Stirling Newberry 03:15, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Edit reattribution

Hi; just a comment about your request for change of attribution of edits; you must currently open up separate accounts on the different language wikis. If you do that with the same email address in each, and probably same password, then, according to what I have read elsewehere, in a future software update they should all become one account for all wikis. I think it'll be easier for the developer if you first open up accounts on each wiki. Mozzerati 17:04, 2005 Feb 15 (UTC)

[edit] Chatsubo poste on Knot (disambiguation)

The page en:knot should link to ja:ロープワーク. NOT the ja:結び目. My guess would be the Japanese preference for ja:ノット and ja:結び目 remaining separate because of keyboard entry issues. But you are right about ja:ノット to en:knot_(disambiguation).:

The page ja:結び目 is more for a catch for the technical concept of knot or someone who used a machine translator. No one would use those characters for necktie for example. It woudn't be so bad realy, except for that third Kanji:

I just started Wiki And I'd have to spend more time to figure out their style on Wiki. I would presume that ja:ノット would ultimately have be their disambiguous page, to their chagrin, due to Wiki-style on Inter-wiki links. If interlingua is the desired goal without a smart-hyper-text search.:

I've noticed that to be the biggest thorn in my side trying to go between languages and the present Inter-wiki style to Japanese. There are Three japanese character sets to write the same word in English, Four because a term can use all three at the same time, BUT you are allowed basically One link.:

It would be nice to do your suggestion in an ideal world, but that would mean a lot of coffee on their part.:

Personally, I was having it hard enough just doing the knot articles this week for german/japanese to english, there's a million variants and no 3 texas bowlines alike. If your question doesn't get answered by them give me a chat, I'll give a little more umph. I sort of need to use this as my litmus test. Schlüggell | Talk 05:32, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] About the article Compaq portable

[edit] Thanks for your work on the BASICs!

Hi there, I just wanted to give you my kudos on the work you have done on the BASIC dialects. I take a particular interest in that stuff myself, and so I find it encouraging that there are several of us putting in an effort to categorize and describe the BASICs and their evolution. Later, we should perhaps establish a separate WikiProject for this work. Until then, keep up the good work! --Wernher 00:13, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Intresting Ayyavazhi Family

Hai Ae, there are intresting articles about Ayyavazhi, a new religion on both mythology and religiosity. Wikipedia is rich with this topic in English, but poor in other languages. Since french is a leading language in Wikipedia it is better to translate the contents on this AYYAVAZHI family to french. - Paul Raj

[edit] Double redirects

Hi, thanks for your comments on RussBot's double-redirect fixing. I will suspend this activity until I can resolve your concerns about the redirect templates. However, I'm not sure I understand exactly what needs to be done.

I noticed that whenever RussBot comes accross a double-redirect where the first redirect in the chain has a redirect template, the template is not changed appropriately whenever the redirect chain is collapsed. An example would be if the first redirect in the chain was R from title without diacritics and the next one was R from alternate language. What should happen in this case is that when the chain is collapsed, the first redirect should be changed from R from title without diacritics to R from alternate language. If it is too much work to try and come up with a list of all possible changes for the redirect-template when collapsing redirect-chains, then RussBot should just erase the redirect-template.

OK, I see how that works with alternate language, but are you sure it is appropriate for all redirect-templates? Maybe it would just be better to review these manually.

Also, would it be possible for RussBot to skip redirects with the type R with possibilities? Otherwise, when the page in question becomes an article, the links that were supposed to link to that article would end up linking to what the article redirected to when it was a redirect.

This one I'm not so sure about. What you have now is something like Foo that reads:

 • #REDIRECT Bar R with possibilities

and then Bar reads:

 • #REDIRECT Baz R from misspelling

What I think I should do is fix the misspelling on Foo but leave the template there, so it would read:

 • #REDIRECT Baz R with possibilities

This doesn't change any existing articles that link to Foo, so if Foo ever gets made into an article of its own the links to it will still be valid. Is that consistent with what you had in mind? --Russ Blau (talk) 15:06, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

At last, I have responded on your talk-page. Sorry baout the late response. Ae-a 19:53, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the screenshots

Thanks for taking the time for providing the screen shots for Atari BASIC. Really, if more people took the time that you have, the wiki would be widely illustrated. If you ever have the yen to take more screenshots, let me know, I have LOTS of suggestions for Atari-related articles I'm too lazy to illustrate myself. And happy new year!
