AGL Energy Limited (ASX: AGK) is an Australian company involved in generating and selling electricity and natural gas. It was formed from transactions between its predecessor Australian Gas Light Company and Alinta Limited on 25 October 2006. Australian Gas Light sold its infrastructure businesses (excluding Gas Valpo) to Alinta in return for a 33% share in their WA retail businesses (through AlintaAGL), and their shareholders receiving 44% of the new Alinta.[1][2]
