From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Aldra is a Norwegian island, close to Bratland at 66°25'N, 13°01'E. The island Aldra is used as VLF-transmission site. Until 2002, there was an antenna span over the fjord to the Norwegian mainland, which was used until 1997 as antenna of Omega transmitter Bratland. On the Western site of the island, there is a similar antenna span, which is used by the VLF-transmitter JXN for transmitting messages to submerged submarines.
