Alexey
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alexey (Russian: Алексе́й) is a male first name of Eastern-European and East Slavic descent, and can be pronounced (a-LEX-e-ay), (a-LEX-i), or (a-LEX-ay). It can also be spelled as "Alexi", "Alexie", "Alexy", "Alexis" or "Alexei", "Aleksei", etc.
Common hypocoristics are Alyosha, Alyoshka, Alyoshenka (Алёша, Алёшка, Алёшенька), sometimes rendered as Alesha/Aleshenka in English because of common confusion of Russian letters Е and Ё.
