Allen Apsley

Sir Allen Apsley (1582-1630) was created 1616 Lord-Lieutenant of the Tower of London and Tower Hamlets, by King James I of England. He was one of the founders of the New England Company in 1620. He was born in London, England to a wealthy family. He fathered two famous children, Sir Allen Apsley jr.. (1616-1683) and Lady Lucy Apsley Hutchinson (1620-1681). He married Lady Lucy St. John on October 23, 1615, in St. Ann Blackfriars, London, England. She was the daughter of Sir John St. John of Lydiard Tregoze and Lady Lucy Hungerford. Sir Allen Apsley was the son of Sir John Apsley and Elizabeth Shelly of London, England. Sir Allen died on May 24, 1630.
