Amy Lamé

Amy Lamé is a London-based radio presenter, comedian, model, club promoter, writer, and television presenter. She was born and raised in New Jersey and attended Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. She moved to London in 1992. Having worked at First Out, a London lesbian and gay cafe, Amy became prominent in London's alternative lesbian and gay scene when she launched a club night called Duckie with Simon Strange in 1995 at the Vauxhall Tavern, a traditional gay pub in South London. Duckie continues to run, and under the direction of Strange and Lamé the Duckie brand has also included larger-scale club night projects and award-winning theatre events.
Amy works as a radio presenter with Danny Baker on BBC London 94.9 and also appeared in the second UK series of Celebrity Fit Club. She also has made regular appearances on the programmes Loose Women and Richard & Judy. Early in her career, she appeared (uncredited) on TFI Friday in their Fat Lookalikes feature as a fat Pam Ayres, and has appeared in a video for Oasis.
In 2006, Amy Lamé developed a semi-fictional stage show, The Mama Cass Family Singers, which she performed at the Edinburgh Festival and for a short run at the Soho Theatre in London.
Amy Lamé has a distinctive look. She is a large woman with trademark fly-away black-rimmed spectacles and an ironic take on the 1950s American housewife style. She takes occasional modelling work, and her face can be seen on packs of Hula Hoops.
Amy lives with her British partner, Jenny, usually referred to as "the Strawberry Blonde", in Pimlico.
