Anthony Walter Dayrell Brooke

Anthony Walter Dayrell Brooke, (b. 10 December 1912), was appointed Rajah Muda of Sarawak (heir apparent) on 25 August 1937 but in 1951 he renounced any claim to the title, following the dissolution of Sarawak in 1946. Brooke is the son of Captain Bertram Willes Dayrell Brooke, who was the Tuan Muda (heir presumptive) of Sarawak. He is the nephew of its third and last ruling White Rajah, his father's elder brother Charles Vyner Brooke.
Brooke was educated at Eton College and Magdalene College, Cambridge. He served as a Lieutenant in the Intelligence Corps during World War Two.
Brooke was married first to Kathleen Mary Hudden (d. 1982), who became the Ranee Muda of Sarawak. They had three children:
- James Bertram Lionel Brooke (b. 1940), married first Victoria Holdsworth (b. 1949), she would later marry Sir Paul Getty, married second Karen Mary Lappin (b. 1955). He has two sons by his second wife:

- Jason Desmond Anthony Brooke (b. 1985)
- Angela Carole Brooke (1942-c.1983),
- Celia Margaret Brooke (b. 1944), married first to Prince Murshid Zade David Inayat Khan (son of Inayat Khan), maried second Marcel Captier had a daughter by her first husband:
- Sura un-nissa Dorée des Anges Brooke Harper (b. 1971)
Between 1939 and 1940 Brooke was responsible for administering the government of Sarawak in the absence of the Rajah. Since then he has been a traveller and lecturer, supporting various movements for peace and universal understanding. He currently lives in New Zealand with his second wife (from 1982), Gita Keiller.
