Appledore F.C. is a football (soccer) club based in Appledore, North Devon, England. They were established in 1912. After playing for most of their existence in local North Devon football, they joined the South Western League in 1978 under the name of Appledore & B.A.A.C. after a merger with the football section of the Bideford Amateur Athletic Club.
They spent nearly twenty years in the South Western League, but in 1995 saw the recently-formed Devon County League as a more appropriate competition and were accepted as members. In 1998, they reverted to their original name after a request from the Athletic Club.
The club has never played in the FA Cup, and have only competed in the FA Vase twice, on both occasions losing their first round match by a 1-0 scoreline. Without floodlights, the club cannot currently be considered for entry to national competitions.
Their club colours are usually orange shirts and black shorts, although in some seasons the shirts have been amber or yellow. The club's ground is at Marshford, on the way into Appledore from Bideford along the A386 road. The pitch is railed off on three sides, there is a clubhouse with a covered standing area attached, and a small car parking area. The club has won the hospitality award from the Devon County League several times since joining the league.
For the forthcoming 2006/07 season a new management team of Geoff Copp and Malcolm Stevens will be in charge, taking over from Micky Clarke who departed for league rivals Holsworthy.
At the presentation night for the 2005/2006 season goalkeeper Nicky Spry was named both the first team Manager's Player of the Year and Committee's Player of the Year. Paul Dart was voted Players' Player of the Year while the supporters award went to Jason Pontin. For the reserves, the experienced sweeper Phil Sluggett was the Players' Player and goalkeeper Will Anderson got the managers vote. Paul Milner was Player of the Year for the third team with Jamie Summers being top young player and Nick Fishwick most improved.
