Arabkir District

Arabkir District (Armenian: Արաբկիր) is a neighborhood that used to be a separate village in Yerevan, Armenia. It was founded in November 29, 1925. Arabkir has a population of more than 100,000 residents. It was founded by Armenians who survived the Armenian Genocide in 1915. Most people that live in this district came from Arabkir (modern day district of Malatya Province in Turkey), which was populated with Armenians before the Armenian Genocide. Arabkir district is the second largest district in Yerevan. One of the Universities that is located in Arabkir district is the Russian-Armenian State University (RAU).
