Ashtar Sheran is a messianic figure, introduced as an extraterrestrial entity leader of the so-called Ashtar Command, promoted by contactees George Van Tassel and Herbert Victor Speer. He is supposed to have been created by George Van Tassel from the figure of Orthon, a pseudo ET from Venus supposedly met by George Adamski on November 20, 1952 in the Colorado Desert. Adopted by some New Age groups, mostly by channeling groups, Ashtar is claimed to save mankind and to prepare it for the entrance in the Aquarian Age. Ashtar Sheran is introduced by his promoters as the masculine version of Ishtar, the Babylonian goddess of beauty.
