Talk:Auto destruct (Star Trek)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I haven't heard of a destruct device on the Enterprise (NX-01), but if anyone knows if the Enterprise has an auto-destruct device, please feel free to change what I've written.

[edit] All it would take is one phaser and the warp core
Another method which could probably be used in the event of computer failure would be one hand phaser, aimed at the warp core.

[edit] Next Gen Autodestruct in Engineering
Why does the article say, in regards to TNG, that autodestruct HAS to be initiated from engineering, and even speculates that it would be unable to activate it if access to engineering was cut off. I only remember seeing autodestruct activated in the TNG episode "11001001", and I'd assume autodestruct could also be started from the bridge; since Picard and Riker shut it off when they got to the bridge in that episode. They simply couldn't access the bridge and thats why they had to start it in engineering. But nothing shows they HAVE to start it in engineering! I'd assume they could probably start it anywhere they please as long as there was a computer terminal nearby. Cyberia23 08:19, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
