The Aviation Bowl was a post-season college football bowl game played at Welcome Stadium in Dayton, Ohio, on December 9, 1961. New Mexico defeated Western Michigan 28-12 in front of just over 3000 fans. Although the NCAA approved a second edition for 1962, the bowl was never played again. It was a financial failure.
New Mexico hasn't won a bowl game since.
