Baha'i Faith in Afghanistan

Baha'i Faith was introduced in Afghanistan around 1919 and has since had a presence in the country. The First Local Spiritual Assembly was elected in 1969 in Kabul and the first National Spiritual Assembly in 1972.
Baha'is were persecuted during the Communist regime and recently during Taliban. The World Christian Encyclopedia records about 23,075 Afghan Baha'is in 2000.
