Bat-and-ball games are games that are played using a wooden bat and a ball. Examples are cricket, baseball, golf, and older games such as bat and trap. The games rely on the physics of bats (see baseball bat and cricket bat), which work by greatly increasing, through the length and flexibility of the bat, the force that acts upon the ball.
