Battle of Balikpapan

The name Battle of Balikpapan may refer to two actions in the Pacific campaign of World War II, centred on an oil refinery and port in the Netherlands East Indies (later Indonesia):
- The Naval Battle of Balikpapan, in which American destroyers damaged a Japanese troop convoy in the Makassar Strait near Balikpapan on January 24, 1942.
- The Battle of Balikpapan (1945), in which Allied forces recaptured the area, July 7 – July 21, 1945.
