The naval Battle of Busan took place on 1 November 1592 during the first phase of the Seven-Year War between Korea and Japan.
The Korean navy was well-trained. They employed long range cannon to secure victory.
The Joseon navy sank many ships, despite the heavy gun fire from Japanese land forces on higher ground. Although the Joseon navy was in a position to sink more ships, Admiral Yi forbade it, fearing that if more ships were sunk, it would prevent the Japanese army leaving Korea.
The casualties for Korean were six dead and 25 injured. Captain Chung, Captain of Nokto, was killed by Japanese mustket fire.
