Talk:Beaky Buzzard
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Smithson's cartoon entries are models of wit and clarity, with unusual preceptions and depth. Thank you. User:Wetman
- Thanks for the compliment! I hope to make them even better once my Peace Corps service is up -- I don't have access to my library here in Cameroon. But I guess the entries are still coming out okay. BrianSmithson 09:54, 20 Nov 2003 (UTC)
[edit] Beaky = Hitchcock?
I removed this addition from an anonymous contributor:
- There were several rumours that Beaky`s unusual appearance was influenced by the popular horror film producer Alfred Hitchcock as, when viewed in profile, the bald head and backward crane of the neck were astonishingly similar to Hitchcock`s features. The studio executives rapidly debunked these rumours, with the press release including the now famous quote "He`s a buzzard, they all look like that."
I couldn't find anything to corroborate it with a Google search. Does anyone know of this rumor? Is there any truth to the paragraph? —BrianSmithson 02:29, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Killer Buzzard
The fact that Beaky is called Killer in his first cartoon does not mean that these are different characters. Warners cartoon characters frequently changed names in their early days as directors got a hold on them and defined their looks and personalities. Let's not split hares, er hairs here. -- BrianSmithson 06:18, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- Further support or the fact that Killer Buzzard and Beaky Buzzard are the same character: IMDB, Beaky Buzzard fan page, and another, Dan Markstein's Toonopedia, TV.com, The Total Toon Tome, The Big Cartoon Database . . . You get the idea. In fact, a Google search for "killer buzzard" -wikipedia -wiki gets eight unique hits, none of which has anything to do with Looney Tunes; a Google search for "killer buzzard" bunny -wikipedia -wiki nets zero hits. A print source also asserts that they are the same character: Why I Wake Early: New Poems by Mary Oliver, These are the same character. — BrianSmithson 08:50, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- I stated that Killler Buzzard is the prototype of Beaky Buzzard and Killer would later evolve into Beaky Buzzard not he is diffrent then Beaky Buzzard. Now do you understand.

- No, I am saying that he is not the prototype of Beaky Buzzard, he is Beaky Buzzard, but that the animators hadn't come up with his official name yet. I have also provided amble evidence to back up my claims. Sorry if there was any confusion. :) — BrianSmithson 22:13, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
