Bekasi is a city to the east of Jakarta, Indonesia in the Jabotabek region. The city has a population of approximately 2 million within the city limits, while substantial urban areas surround the city. It serves as a commuter city for Jakarta, although it does have its own industries, notably trade, business, and processing industries.

Bekasi is divided into 12 subdistricts: West Bekasi, East Bekasi, South Bekasi, North Bekasi, Medan Satria, Rawalumbu, Bantar Gebang, Pondok Gede, Jatisampurna, Jatiasih, Pondok Melati, and Mustika Jaya.
Beside as a middle city (kotamadya), Bekasi also as a regency of West Java. The capital is Cikarang, 20 kilometres to the east of Bekasi city.

The location near of Jakarta, in recent years many sattelite cities have been developed in Bekasi, such as Harapan Indah and Kemang Pratama.
There are several shopping centers in Bekasi : Mal Metropolitan, the biggest one (anchor tenant: Matahari), Mega Bekasi Hypermall (anchor tenant: Giant), Grand Mall (anchor tenant: Hypermart), Blue Oasis City (anchor tenant: Carrefour), Bekasi Trade Centre, and Hero Plaza.
