Benedetto Gennari

Benedetto Gennari ( 1591- March 15, 1610) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active mainly in Ferrara and Cento. His birthplace is poorly recorded, it is known he entered at age 16, the studio of Guercino in Bologna. He adopted a style influenced by Caravaggio, and by age 19, was working in the household of Mirandola in Cento. In that town, he helped decorate the Palazzo della communita and the church of Spirito Santo. He is also known as Benedetto Gennari Seniore (the elder), since his son Benedetto Gennari Juniore was also a painter as well as Cesare Gennari
