[edit] Best Day Ever

It really is the best day ever!!!Jon Hart 00:36, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Indeed. (^: Jon Hart 00:37, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
    • I disagree. Jon Hart 23:17, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

What? how come you agree and disagree? that makes no sense--Chikinpotato11 02:37, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Best Day Lyrics

I just added the lyrics to the full length song, I wasn't completly sure about a certain verse though. The lyrics online said, "...Feeling so exstatic, satisfied." But the caption on my television, during the marathon said, "...Feeling so Extra-exstatified." A bit confusing, so I put both up their. I'm going to look further into this.

[edit] Article needs major editing...

  • Even though the event just started, please remember not to link common words such as "boat", and that the article should be able to help the casual reader. That means no songs section. It might fit in the Trivia Section though. But remember sections that include the lyrics of songs almost never help the reader. Abby724 05:19, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Will continue updating in the morning

  • I have to leave now, please someone update the countdown throughout the night. I will continue tomorrow. -AMK152 06:03, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Skipped icon

  • I noticed that you put something on the countdown called skip. What does that mean? Does it mean that they didn't play that?
Yeah. They skipped those episodes. --MacintoshApple 21:09, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Countdown messed up?

  • The countdown onn the show is different from the countdown online. Which is right? Some are airing oddly...like Neptune's Spatula as #36 just aired, then they said that it's Employee of the Month for #36? -AMK152 14:34, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
The countdown became messed up when Patchy woke up during his nap and skipped 11 or so episodes. --Brieeyeball 14:52, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Which premiered?

  • Which episodes actually premiered and what are the ranks?
Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy VI: The Motion Picture or Enemy In-Law as #53?
Employee of the Month or Neptune's Spatula as #36?
-AMK152 15:19, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy VI: The Motion Picture aired and Employee of the Month aired. Neptune's Spatula was shown earlier at #42 Tsears 15:19, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Skipped episodes on marathon

  • Was it revealed why the episodes were skipped on the marathon? -AMK152 15:23, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes. Patchy awoke from his nap and "accidently" called off the wrong episode number.--Brieeyeball 15:30, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
How does that reveal why? And he awoke at 8 am, unless he was awake sometime between midnight and 8am? -AMK152 18:10, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Why is because patchy is bad at his job. He was jostled out of sleep and called off the wrong number then fell back asleep until 8AM.--Brieeyeball 19:50, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Why did Patchy fell asleep? Elil

He was tired. BadName

Personally, I think Nick did that on purpose to promote season 4.Lima bean of the north 06:08, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Episode Table

  • When an episode is the same rank for the online list and what was actually aired, it shouldn't stretch across the table. It should be in both cells so that the table looks better.--Brieeyeball 15:34, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Why has it moved down to the external links section instead of under Top 100? ~~Mark321123

[edit] Eragon Trailer

  • Before they announced the #1 Spongebob episode, Patchy said "And now for something new..." then a trailer for the Eragon movie came on. Was that the first time it was shown on television? Mark321123 01:19, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
It was the first time it was shown on Nickelodeon, I'm not sure about television as a whole though.--Brieeyeball 04:02, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

The first TV Spot for the film was released during the third game of the 2006 World Series.-from the Eragon Wikipedia article-- Tsears 15:04, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Gosh, does Spongebob need to be cleaned up.

So many of these articles are sloppy and seemingly written by 8-year-olds. Which, given that it's Spongebob, makes sense, but come on, the sponge deserves better than this horrible grammar and useless gibberish they call facts! I'm definitely gonna crusade to clean out useless crap from Spongebob articles. Just look at some previous revisions of this. Heck, I'm sure it's still sloppy in some places. Evan1109 17:13, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

I agree. Please remember not to link common words such as "boat", and that the article should be able to help the casual reader. That means no songs section. It might fit in the Trivia Section though. But remember sections that include the lyrics of songs almost never help the reader. Also, I have no idea why this discussion was archived. That page was a waste, archives should be 32kb long. All of the discussions on that page (except for the first discussion, which was spam) was put on their the time of the event, and een though the event ended, the discussion page still wasn't long enough to archive. Personally, I think a criticism section is a good idea for this article too. Abby724 17:22, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

I agree too. For example, in the Spongebob Squarepants (character) article, there was a section about Spongebob's age. It had examples from episodes on speculated ages of Spongebob (sometime in his 20s). But then someone deleted the whole section and replaced it with the sentence "He is 9." Obviously it was edited by a nine year old who wanted Spongebob to be the same age as him. This is supposed to be an online encyclopedia! We can't have 9 year olds messing things up.

[edit] Criticism Section?

Someone else here might like the episode, but I think the episode generated some controversy, reading the Trivia section saying that many fans didn't like it because of its shortness, and better plot. I can think of a few things to add to such a section if created. I know it could (and should) be improved, and I also don't know how to add increased childishness in there though. Abby724 17:38, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

  • The criticism generated from this episode spawned mainly because of the short length, shallow plot, and witty humor the show is known for. Also, Spongebob is actually more aggressive than in previous episodes, shown where he was yelling at an audience member to sit down, quite threateningly.

There was also something in the trivia section which said that some long-time fans criticized the top-100 list. It was deleted though, probably from someone who liked the list. That could be put in the criticism section if one was made Lima bean of the north 18:00, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

That segment was NPOV. It's true, fans have criticized it. And the part where many fans considered certain episodes to be better is true too. And yes, Season 4 hasn't ended yet. And I also agree, there are many Season 4 episodes featured in the list. The segment:
Many fans criticized the top 100 list for having episodes they considered bad in the top 10 and episodes they considered good higher up in the list or even absent. The list was also criticized for having too many season 4 episodes, even though the season hasn't ended yet.

I think someone suspects there are weasel words in there. Perhaps so, but if we just had a few examples of the fans who didn't like it, it would tone down the weaselness, right? Maybe tv.com will help? I'm pretty sure they have an average rating for episodes. And we could also quote from reviews. Please, let's discuss this. Abby724 04:52, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
I think it was me who deleted it. Not sure. I don't like the list but it just felt like it seemed out of place and had more to do with opinion. It's one thing when a spewing of criticism comes out over something, but this is just a marathon. At the time it seemed un-needed on the trivia, although if someone could use examples from tv.com as said and overall just wrote it in a more..."professional" way then I think it could be kept. Evan1109 05:48, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
  • I agree with Evan. I also thought of it as opionion, so I have deleted it a couple of times. -AMK152 21:12, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

It would be an opinion if it said that the marathon wasn't good, but it said some fans thought it wasn't good, which is a fact. If it was an opinion than that would also make the popularity and broad appeal parts of the main Spongebob article opinion (which they aren't).Lima bean of the north 05:59, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

In either case, the fact did not seem well written in general. However, how about something like this? It basically says what that other point said but shortened and more "coherent",
"The episode was generally not well-received by fans, who criticized it for having more recent episodes in the top positions, with the more typically fan-favored episodes in the back of the list."
Optionally, we could add:
"However, a long time belief among viewers of Nickelodeon is that the polls they hold are often fixed--the Kids Choice Awards often are won only by Nickelodeon's own shows. A theory many fans have is that the newer episodes were put up front to promote the new Spongebob Season 4, Volume 1 DVDs."
I saw that in there at some point and thought it was a good point, but could not verify if such a DVD existed or if this was really believed--Many do believe that Nick fixed the polls (including myself) but no one's given a reason for why. Evan1109 01:51, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, that sounds better than the other one. And Evan1109, there isn't a season 4 DVD yet, but there will be after the season finishes, so they could have been promoting that.Lima bean of the north 17:52, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Should this be noted?

Should it be noted that, during the marathon, instead of showing Patchy, at one part it showed one of the Mr. Meaty puppets saying that it's the best day ever? I'm not sure wich character it was because I never watched the show, but it was either Josh or Parker. Alice2 18:56, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

That was because some characters/actors of other nickelodean shows (e.g. Drake Bell, Lil' JJ, etc) were saying things about the marathon between episodes.Lima bean of the north 06:02, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] History merge

Per a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves, I've merged the history from The Best Day Ever subsequent to a cut-and-paste move. It was kind of a complicated history merge because there were already deleted edits at both locations, and I ended up creating 3 temp pages along the way, which can be found in my deletion log if anyone ever needs to. I believe the entire GFDL history is here now. If there's anything I missed and need to fix, please let me know. -GTBacchus(talk) 00:07, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia/Goofs section

You know, shouldn't we put the Goofs: During the entrance song, SpongeBob and Gary are on the roof. However, they are standing on the leafs of the roof. SpongeBob's feet are not on a flat surface and his right foot is barely touching anything., and During the very end of the episode, when Spongebob is singing about "the perfect job starts his perfect day", the poorly painted 'Krusty Krab' sign changes to 'K.K.' after he flips the patty. in the Trivia/Goofs section instead of the Reference section? I think it looks weird. Do you? Zany zacky (talkcontribs)

[edit] Best Day Ever & Sailor Mouth

They were paired on one airing. Whoever keeps editing this out MUST stop. --Der4 18:33, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
