Big Hero 6 is a superteam in the Marvel Comics universe. They first appeared in Sunfire and Big Hero 6 #1 (September, 1998), though the members Sunfire and the Silver Samurai were pre-existing characters.
Big Hero 6 is funded by the Giri Industrial Corporation, and serves as the national superhero team for Japan, not unlike how Alpha Flight was funded by the Canadian government.
When originally formed, they consisted of Hiro Takachiho (a boy genius), Sunfire (a Japanese mutant with the power to generate atomic flame), the Silver Samurai (a former foe of Wolverine), Baymax (a giant robot, made up to look like a reptilian monster), Honey Lemon (a spy, capable of pulling many different weapons from her purse), and Gogo Tomago, (another spy, with the power to change herself into a living ball of energy).
They later guest-starred in Alpha Flight, where they had been mind-controlled. Their roster consisted of Hiro Takachiho, Go Go Tamayo (who is super-strong and can fly), Sunpyre (an extra-dimensional counterpart of Sunfire's deceased sister, with identical powers), Baymax, Honey Lemon (who has been equipped with a 'nano-purse', a portal to Hammerspace in bag form), and the Ebon Samurai. When they had been freed, they returned home to find out why they had been mind-controlled.
The name of the team is an obvious parody towards the Super Sentai based superhero teams of the past. Ironically, Marvel did co-fund the production of one such series (Battle Fever J)
