Talk:Big Brother Other Editions

The description of what an "Other Edition" is (as given in this article) doesn't match with what Big Brother USA season 7. Season 7 is simply one more season, even though the selection of contestants is obviously different (picking from 20 prior contestants). Each season has differences, but it doesn't magically become a different show, or edition. But, regardless of the issue of inclusion, we should at least describe the show properly. Specifically "Big Brother Other Editions do not attach the time length of the Big Brother series (it only lasts a few days)." is false in this case. --Rob 15:12, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with Rob up there. It is technically Big Brother 7: All Stars, so it's counted under regular seasons. The only difference is voting previous contestants in. And it will last 80 or more days from what we know, making it a full-fledged season. Geoking66 15:36, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- So why are the 2 GH VIP Spains not counted as main seasons then? VIP1 lasted 68 days and VIP2 lasted 71 days, both longer than some main editions of Big Brother. Big Brother has always been categorised by the type of contestants - Members of the public editions are counted as main editions, celebrities are classed as VIP or Celebrity editions. Seasons featuring only teenagers & seasons featuring past contestants we class here as Other editions due to the small number the has taken place around the world. Are people that say that the USA All Stars edition should be counted as a main edition also saying that the Belgium All Stars should also be a main edition and numbered BB4, with the season we know as BB4 actually being BB5 and the season that has recently finished becoming BB6? The numbering of Big Brothers has been numbered according to type of contestant since BB started, I don't understand why because the USA has launched an All Stars version that the numbering convention should be changed.
- No, those VIP seasons are not shown instead of normal seasons. For the US, All Stars is the replacement for a season seven with different people. We don't have spin-offs (unlike the UK with Celebrity Big Brother). Besides, not showing the seventh season under the main seasons is confusing, because for the US, the next season is season eight, not season seven (which is currently taking place). - No, next year, if Big Brother returns will be BB7 as it will be the 7th main season. And it is not true to say that all VIP seasons are not shown instead as normal seasons, for example BB3 Portugal was September 2001 & BB4 Portugal was September 2003, there was a VIP season that started in September 2002 which was instead of the normal season that year. Big Brother has a universally recognised numbering system and that is to number seasons like VIP, Teen and All Stars separately to the main seasons, this system has been adopted for BB's worldwide since the begining in 1999, I have yet to hear a convincing arguement as to why the USA should be numbered any differently to the other 37 countries that have had BB's. - Why does the website call the season BIG BROTHER: ALL STARS (note no "7") through the site and why is there no 7 in the logo? Although what the show is called on screen is not the issue, it is what the show is known as worldwide. In the UK it is never called BB7 on screen but as BB2006, however BB worldwide numbering convention means it is rightly referred to as BB7 UK. If every country had its own numbering system it would be too confusing. GrahamUK 9 July 2006.
