Billie Winkler
Billie Winkler has the honour of being Steven Wakefield's only college age girlfriend. Arriving to Sweet Valley University at the time of Elizabeth Wakefield's arrest, she accidentally becomes Steven's roommate. He had agreed to let her move in with him because he assumed she was a guy. They start to date around book 100, The Evil Twin, and are together at the end of the Sweet Valley High series.
Billie is not mentioned in Sweet Valley High: Senior Year.
In Sweet Valley University, Billie and Steven have been going out and living together for two years. Their relationship is tested when Jessica Wakefield got married to Mike McAllery, Steven's sworn "enemy". After Jessica decided to knock Mike out with a lamp, she ran to Billie and Steven's third floor apartment, Mike follows, a fight occurs between Mike and Steven, Mike gets shot, and Steven gets thrown in jail. After Steven gets sentenced to help Mike, Billie moves out. They are back together in the next book.
In book 18, Billie's Secret, Billie decides to try out for a pretigious scholarship to study classical guitar in Spain with a famous guitarist. Though she wins the semester abroad, she has to decline is because she is pregnant. She and Steven hastily arrange to get married. However, in book 19, Broken Promises, Shattered Dreams, she has a miscarriage. In book 20, Here Comes the Bride, she and Steven arrange to have another wedding, which they call off.
Except for mentions by name in a few later books, Billie fades into relative obscurity in the world of Sweet Valley.
