Danio albolineatus pulcher (Smith, 1931) |
The Blue-Redstripe Danio is a subspecies of the widely known Pearl Danio. It is a tropical fish belonging to the Danio family (Cyprinidae). Originating from South-east Asia in southern Thailand, Chantaburi province, this fish is rarely found in the fish keeping hobby. It tends to be smaller than the Pearl Danio and have a distinctive wide luminous orange stripe which peters out under the dorsal. While still rare, it is known to hobbyists as Danio Blue-Redstripe. Scholars are currently undecided as to whether it is a separate species to Danio abolineatus or not, with the majority tending to the latter view.
