Brannigans
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Brannigans are a brand of thick, crunchy old-fashioned crisps in the UK. They were previously sold in a unique brown paper packaging. Nowadays they are sold in the more common foil packaging. They also show a picture on the front of a man in old style clothes selling potato crisps from a tray in his hand. Brannigans are similar in style to The Real McCoy's crisps, except they are straight-cut, and McCoys are crinkled. Flavours include Roast Beef and Mustard, Roast Beef and Horseradish, Smoked Ham and Pickle and the now obsolete Roast Lamb and Mint. There were also for a limited time Brannigans nuts sold in small bags.
Brannigans crisps have become increasingly difficult to find in recent years. They can still be found in some public houses, but unfortunatly it seems as if the brand is being phased out. As they were never really given a chance in big supermarkets alongside other crisps, some people see this as a great pity. Unique in their hard, crunchy texture, and realistic meat flavours, it seems unlikely we will see a similar product on the shelves.
