Breaking the silence
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Breaking The Silence ("Shovrim Shtika" in Hebrew) is an Israeli movement in which soldiers and veterans talk about their military service within the Occupied Territories. They report and discuss incidents of unnecessary violence and oppression committed by the Israeli military against Palestinian civilians that went unnoticed in Israeli and other Western media. These soldier/veterans usually report incidents that they personally have witnessed or committed. In addition to publishing reports and sponsoring a website: www.shovrimshtika.org, members of the group have done speaking tours throughout Israel, western Europe and the United States.
