Briargrove, Houston, Texas

Briargrove is a neighborhood in Houston, Texas, near Uptown Houston.
Briargrove was established in the 1950s with one-story ranch homes. Deed restrictions in the neighborhood were modified in 1986 to allow for one and one half-story and two-story homes. Afterwards some of the older ranch homes were torn down and replaced with newer two story homes.

The neighborhood is served by the Houston Police Department's Westside Patrol Division [3].

Briargrove's public schools are operated by Houston ISD. Briargrove is zoned to Briargrove Elementary School and Grady Middle School. Briargrove Elementary School is consistently at capacity; Houston ISD is (as of 2006) building St. George Place Elementary School to relieve Briargrove Elementary School. Briargrove Elementary is also getting a new campus, which is scheduled to open in fall 2007.
Briargrove students may choose between Lee High School, Lamar High School, and Westside High School. Most Briargrove pupils who remain in the public school system go to Lamar High School. The T.H. Rogers School, an alternative K-12 school for gifted and talented students, deaf students, and multiply impaired students, is nearby Briargrove.
St. Michael School, a Roman Catholic K-8 school that is a part of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, is in the area [4].
Al-Hadi School of Accelerative Learning, a private K-12 Islamic school, is in the area [5].
Other nearby private schools include St. John's School in Houston and The Kinkaid School in Piney Point Village.
