Briarwood–Van Wyck (earlier Van Wyck) is a station on the IND Queens Boulevard Line of the New York City Subway. Located in the Briarwood neighborhood of Queens, it is served by the F train at all times and by the E during evenings, nights, and weekends. While the station itself is roughly centered at the intersection of 84th Drive and the Van Wyck Expressway, most commuters exit via a long passageway to Main Street and Queens Boulevard.
This station is a local station of the Queens Boulevard Line; thus, it is served by two side platforms, with four tracks running through. Just to the south, the IND Archer Avenue Line splits from the Queens Boulevard Line in a flying junction; thus, this station can be served by both 179th Street-bound trains (currently the F) and Jamaica Center–Parsons/Archer-bound trains (the E).
Van Wyck Boulevard was the name of the wide thoroughfare that existed when the station opened in 1937. The Van Wyck Expressway was built over the boulevard in the early 1950s.
