Britain's Got Talent is a British television show scheduled to appear on ITV1 during Summer 2007. The talent show will premiere in April 2007. It will be a search for Britain's next best amateur talent act, featuring singers, dancers, magicians, comedians, contortionists, ventriliquists and other talents of all ages. Anyone who believes they have talent can audition. The series follows the formula of hit US talent show, America's Got Talent, and is the creation of The X Factor and American Idol judge, Simon Cowell. Ant & Dec have been confirmed as the presenters. On 12 February 2007 it was announced by ITV the judges will be Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden.

[edit] Britain's Got More Talent
This is the name of ITV2 spin off show, set to be presented by ex-CITV presenter Stephen Mulhern. The show will be similar to The X Factor Extra Format.
[edit] Controversy
In the Cardiff audition of 17th March, a performer claimed that a "better name for this show might be 'Britains Got Commercial Exploitability." Indeed much controversy has arisen amongst contestants as to potential rigging of the audition process, and concerns have been voiced that the judges were told in advance which acts should be put through, and which should be eliminated from proceedings.

When the show first came up in production Paul O'Grady was set to be the host but when he left ITV, Simon Cowell took production over to the USA and made America's Got Talent first instead of Britain's Got Talent and got Ant & Dec involved.
[edit] Pre Auditions
A pre-audition is held where a performer will peform their act infront of a single producer and to give details about themselves. Callbacks will then be made 4-6 weeks after their prelimanary and then they may be chosen to peform again infront of the judges at a well known venue in the city their pre-audition was held. From here the Acts will be further scrutinised under the three listed judges of the show to win a place further on.
Pre-Auditions started on the 27th of January at the Birmingham International Convention Centre Symphony Hall. London pre-auditions were held on the 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th of February at the Business Design Centre in Islington, with other pre-auditions in Manchester and Cardiff.

At the auditions, the acts would go in front of a live audience, and perform their act infront of the judges. If the judges didn't like your act then they would press their red buttons, when two judges have pressed their red buttons your unsuccesful. However if you finish your act with less than two buttons left you are through to the final 100!
The callbacks have been made from Birmingham and the people who presented themselves well went in front of the judges at the Alexandria Theatre on the 12th - 14th february. Callbacks for both have been made for the Cardiff and Manchester auditions, who have been in front of the judges. The Cardiff auditions were on the 10/11th March with the Manchester auditons on the 23rd-25th of March at the Carling Apollo Theatre. The London callbacks started 28th of March and will be held later on in the month of April at the Shaftesbury Theatre, London.

The prize has been confirmed to be a minimum cash amount of '£100,000' and a slot to perform at The Royal Variety Performance including a record deal if a singer is to win
