Bronwyn Pike (Born. January 25, 1956)[1] is an Australian politician and current health minister for Victoria, and holds the electoral seat of Melbourne.
Prior to entering politics Bronwyn has been a secondary school teacher, a community services manager and Director of the Unit of Justice and Social Responsibility in the Uniting Church.

[edit] Early Political Career
Bronwyn entered politics in 1999, at age 43, where she was the Minister for Housing and Aged Care and Minister Assisting the Health Minister. In 2002 she was appointed as Minister for Community Services and Minister Assisting the Premier on Community Building.
Following the re-election of the Bracks government in late 2002 Bronwyn was promoted to Minsiter for Health.

As Minister for Health, Bronwyn has overseen the rebuilding of Victoria's public health system, delivering an 83% funding increase for public hospitals, as well as the employment of more than 7,000 additional nurses and 1,200 additional doctors in the public health system.
