Broome Regional Prison is an Australian prison located in Broome, Western Australia. It is the only prison located in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
The prison is located near to the centre of town and there is speculation as to whether stories of inmates climbing over the fence and enjoy an evening in town before returning to climb back over to return to sleep are true or not. Prisoners enjoy many liberties and prior to Western Australia introducing a ban on travel on the back of utilities the prison truck would often be seen driving around town with a load of prisoners on the back setting out for community service tasks. It was also common to see the prisoners paying football on the towns ovals with their guards watching on.
