19th century print of the prison at Buckingham England. Post card type photograph of Buckingham Jail, by an unknown photographer circa 1880. Original is property of the uploader purchased from an antique print shop in Highgate High Street, London in January 2004. The vendor described the image as a "Victorian photograph" The condition of the original and its subjects and their dress give no reason to doubt the authenticity of the description. Thus by English and American law it is firmly in the public domain.
The two-dimensional work of art depicted in this image is in the public domain in the United States and in those countries with a copyright term of life of the author plus 100 years. This photograph of the work is also in the public domain in the United States (see Bridgeman Art Library v. Corel Corp.).
