Talk:Earl of Clancarty
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"As Marquess van Heusden, the Earls of Clanarcy are the only Marquesses in the Peerage of the Netherlands and the highest ranking Dutch nobles." Is this correct see List_of_Dutch_noble_familiesAlci12 19:28, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
The Earls of Clancary are definitely not the highest ranking Dutch nobles. The princes de Bourbon de Parme are higher. Furthermore, in practice, the titles of Marquess of Heusden has but marginal value since there are but few who have ever heard of it.
- Princes are usually not classed as nobles but sit in a catagory above on their own - unless they have also have a dutch dukedom. Whether people have heard of someone has nothing whatsoever to do with their ranking in a peerage. Alci12 11:44, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
