Elidar (woreda)

Elidar is one of the 31 woredas in the Afar Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Administrative Zone 1, Elidar is bordered on the south by the Awash River which separates it from Asayita, on the west by Dubti, on the northwest by the Administrative Zone 2, on the northeast by Eritrea, and on the east by Djibouti. Towns in Elidar include Bure, Diche Oto, Elidar and Manda.
Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 63,133, of whom 28,037 were males and 35,096 were females; 6,789 or 10.75% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 14.9%. Information is not available for the area of Elidar, so its density cannot be calculated.[1]
