[edit] Ideas
In the development of the Abraham material, Esther and Jerry Hicks appear to have been deeply influenced by the Seth books by Jane Roberts, their teachings being very similar to Seth's "you create your own reality." The name Seth features very prominently on the Abraham-Hicks site, being the name of a character in a book series developed by Esther and Jerry.[3]
[edit] Teachings
A key teaching of the Abraham Group is that achieving desires requires feeling hopeful and positive about those goals, rather than fearful. The teachings often refer to vibrations - in the nature of, one's thoughts affect ones 'vibration' that influence reality. Your thoughts have an impact on the outside world. To summarize, if people maintain positive feelings (about their lives, not necessarily about the specific desire), and align with good vibrations, good things will happen to them. Conversely, negative life experiences are created when one is focused on the negative thoughts. [4].
Fundamentally, Abraham-Hicks teaches a single truth: your experiences in life are a direct reflection of your feelings, which are vibrational sources of energy. Abraham-Hicks asserts that your feelings are your guidance system, allowing you to recognize when you are heading toward something that you want, or away from what you want. Recognizing that everything in the Universe is energy, Abraham-Hicks says that vibrations must align with one another in order for a particular experience or object to manifest in your reality. They use the analogy of a radio tuned to 89.3 FM trying to receive a signal being broadcast on 1050 AM. That's what happens when you say or act one way but think another.
The Abraham Group's views on the detrimental effects of aging, is that these effects, like everything else, are also controlled by your 'vibration' or your 'way of thinking,' so a person who is truly harmonious and in tune with themself will cease to have any cellular degeneration[5].
When the Abraham Group is speaking through Esther Hicks, like other channelled entities such as Kryon, a lot of analogies are used to describe complex life situations.
Dreams are considered important to the Abraham Group - "A dream is your reemergence back into Nonphysical, achieving vibrational alignment with who you are then."[6]
[edit] Teachings in Brief
These are the basic Abraham's teachings in brief, as outlined by the Abraham-Hicks group:[1]

- Anything that you can imagine is yours to be or do or have.
- You are choosing your creations as you are choosing your thoughts.
- The Universe adores you; for it knows your broadest intentions.
- Relax into your natural Well-being. All is well.
- You are a creator of thoughtways on your unique path of joy.
- Actions to be taken and money to be exchanged are by-products of your focus on joy.
- You may appropriately depart your body without illness or pain.
- You cannot die; you are Everlasting Life.
No part of the Abraham-Hicks website is specifically devoted to the topic of providing proof that Esther is channelling anyone - although many testimonials of her clients are available.[2]
[edit] Books
Together Esther and Jerry Hicks have authored many books including Ask, And It Is Given. and "The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham", which have become best-selling books published by Louise Hay's Hay House publishers. Ask, And It Is Given has an introduction by author Wayne Dyer. The Law of Attraction reached the New York Times best-selling list on March 11, 2007 in its first week on the list, just below What to Expect When You're Expecting, by Heidi Murkoff.[7]
Their books include three children's books titled Sara (books 1-3), Ask And It Is Given, and a newly released book titled The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent. They have also released a deck of Abraham "Well Being Cards" and their newest deck, "Ask and It Is Given" cards. Their output over the past 20 years has been extensive and includes over 800 audio and video tapes on various issues.
[edit] The Secret
Esther Hicks also appeared in The Secret, however the footage featuring Esther was later removed in the "Extended Edition" of The Secret due to contractual issues and disagreements over marketing tactics[8] (see Salkin, The New York Times, referenced below).
The hardback edition of the book version of The Secret (how to use the law of attraction) ranked highest on the New York Times best-seller list for hardback books the same week that Esther & Jerry Hicks' book The Law of Attraction ranked second-highest for miscellaneous paperback on March 11, 2007.[9]
