Fashionista (band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fashionista is an alternative/fusion band from Hong Kong, formed in 2004 by Indrayudh Shome and Daniel Rolnik in Cambridge, MA.
In April 2005, Shome orchestrated a collection of demos he and Rolnik had made over the past 10 months and put them together in a full length release aptly titled Demos April 2005. The collection, originally put out on a tape with Shome's material on Side A and Rolnik's songs on Side B, was soon translated to disc format. There was little effort to promote the album, which was never pressed and only distributed sporadically as CDRs in Hong Kong and Cambridge. The disc received critical praise from the few who heard it, and the group often cites 90.3 WZBC Boston College Radio, as Joe LaRocca proclaimed "Rock is dead! Listen to Fashionista!" when airing the opening track on the disc, "The Muse".
A few local labels, including Hong Kong's 89268, took notice of the album. 89268 later invited Fashionista to record two tracks for their compilation, "Do You Remember The First Time?" (August 2005). The tracks, "Packaged" and "Dead Gypsy March" received some attention on the internet.
