[edit] Japanese compatability?
Someone told me that this famiclone is capable, without mod, to play both American and Japanese carts. I've been unable to confirm this anywhere but I am hardly a seasoned researcher. If there's any truth to this, shouldn't it be included?
Should be "compatible" with Famicom games as with any NOAC clone, really, but you'd need a pin converter. Hardware doesn't match up normally. But they can run PAL NES carts with no issues. As to SNES, I really don't see why not since the US SNES and SFC were pretty much identical inetrnally. Unsure of PAL requirements though...206.162.192.39 23:28, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- ... but to play SFC games you'll have to remove the 2 plastic tabs from the cartridge slot. seriously no idea why whoever made this console decided those had to be there...206.162.192.39 20:42, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Who makes this?
There is no company listed. And at the History of video game consoles (seventh generation) article, it says the manufacturer is unknown. Wuffyz 23:57, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- I suspect it's Yobo, but there's no manufacturer listed. --John Moser 23:24, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] SNES PAL compatibility
Received Starwing(UK Starfox). It works but I'm getting some glitches in the center of the screen. May just be dirt though.... sound works but you get the black borders. Controls respond. Will update this later when I get a stronger cleaner206.162.192.39 02:53, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- Interesting, I haven't gotten the US Starfox to work at all, just a black screen. Timbatron 16:51, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] NES Compatibility
I'll hold off adding this unless if anyone else confirms the problems, but on my FC Twin, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade and Mike Tyson's Punch Out seem to play fine, but L'Empereur, which is good shape and played in a regular NES, doesn't want to play in my FC Twin. If anyone else can verify that this or other games are incompatible, I think we should create an incompatible list. Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des Citrouilles 21:12, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
I guess you mean Mike Tyson's Punch Out? At any rate, NOACs and other clones are often incompatible with certain games as those games use specialized chips and such. Castlevania III, black Tengen carts(unsure of the gray licensed versions) and the Aladdin Deck Enhancer do not work on the Yobo systems so I expect the same here. Keep in mind this system uses 2 chipsets- one NES, one SNES. They work independently of each other.206.162.192.39 03:38, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- The Batter Up baseball bat controller for the Super NES doesn't seem to work either! :( --24.154.173.243 19:03, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- People tend to report that working... try yours in another system and make sure your bat works right. Granted, there COULD be variations between production runs206.162.192.39 02:51, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

- Perhaps that could be discussed here BatterUP, but in any case, it didn't work for me on the FC Twin or the Super NES. Is there a trick to getting this thing to work or something? Does it need batteries or anything?! If there's anything whacky about how to make the bat work, perhaps it's worth noting. Thanks! --164.107.223.217 21:29, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

- There is an incompatibility list for another NES clone at http://www.playmessiah.com/products/nex/compatibilitylist.htm and this list has L'empereur on it, so maybe the clones just don't play that game? Best, --164.107.223.217 01:57, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

- I've noticed that quite a few games are incompatible with my FC twin. This should be mentioned, considering this article almost reads like an advert. Also, calling this "legal" is not a judgment we can make. This is definately a gray market device since it's legal status is questionable: http://www.gamasutra.com/features/20051111/boyd_01.shtml Timbatron 02:33, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

- Specifically, I couldn't get starfox working, and there were others but I don't remember which ones. I'll test later to see. Unfortunately we can't really put this information on the main page since it's original research. Timbatron 16:57, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

What is the video and audio quality of this clone? Can anyone provide specifics (graphical glitches, wrong colors, screwed up sound, off-key music, etc.)? 24.98.201.149 01:42, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- Audio seems fine to me, and the games that work seem to work just fine. The video unfortunately, seems to overdrive the composite output. The result is that bright white is brighter than it's supposed to be by NTSC standards it seems. Bright colors bleed over to the right and the image is a bit distorted. I've tried this on analog and digital screens with composite input, so it's definately an issue with the signal, not that screen (this is probably something that should be added to the article). I'm thinking a resistor inline to bring the voltage level down a bit (darkening the image) should work, but I'm no EE, so I dont know if it'd work. Timbatron 02:36, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Compatibility: Original research?
Anyone want to comment on whether we should be listing games compatible with this system? It seems like original research to me. I don't specifically want to remove it, since it's useful information to me, but if we can source this somewhere, that'd be nice. Timbatron 16:45, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Keep it as it is INCREDIBLY useful! Best, --Le Grand Roi des Citrouilles 17:53, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
